Veneer

Veneer

Wood veneers are produced by cutting thin slices of wood from logs specially selected according to size, colour, grain figure and character.

Veneer is technically a thin layer of hardwood which is stuck with adhesive, to a surface hidden below.

There are few types of veneers, each serving a particular purpose. You can classify veneers into raw, paper backed, phenolic backed, laid up, reconstituted veneer and wood on wood. Since it is a natural material, veneer is available in a limited number of shades.

In comparison to laminates, veneers require more maintenance. You should polish veneer surfaces from time to time to maintain the look.

Since veneers are wood-make, they maintain the elegance and grace of their parent material. Unlike laminates, each veneer is distinctive adding a unique and rich feel to furniture.

High-quality veneers are much costlier than laminates. The value of veneer depends on the type of wood.

For furniture/wardrobe that you intend to use as statement pieces or as focal points, veneers are preferable. They add aesthetic value and a distinctive look.

Types of Veneer finishing

LACQUERING

A clear lacquered finish is by far the most common maintenance-free and durable finish for wooden surfaces. Utilizing a multi-stage UV-lacquering process, our surface finish achieves these demands while aspiring to maintain technical aspects such as our fire retardation and environmental goals. Our lacquer is a multi-layer UV-cured process which is available in a range of gloss finishes. The lowest gloss gives the impression of a subdued oiled surface whereas the highest reaches almost a mirror-like surface.

Lacquered Veneer – Pigmentation

A pigment can be used to change the colour tone of the veneer on Gustafs wood Panels. We have developed a three stage scale of white pigment for veneers. Since various species react differently to the process we recommend a consultation before proceeding with surface finishing.

Stained Veneer

You can also stain the veneer to achieve different effects on your wall or ceiling. Different veneers react different to certain treatments so contact us to guarantee that the final result matches your vision.

Painted Veneer

Among the many advantages of a Gustafs panel is its plane and even surface. This enables us to create a painted surface finish and at the same time keep the beautiful wooden structure on the surface. we can produce painted surfaces in a multitude of colors in accordance with for example NCS or RAL codes up to a gloss rate up to 50.

Printed Veneer

You can have your print directly on the veneer. We offer new design opportunities with Gustafs Print. You can design every panel in a completely unique way. Design panel by panel or spread your graphics over several panels with a seamless transference.
